Male Frontal Hairline Transplant Case | Overhead View About 8 to 12 Months After Surgery

Male

A man came to Dr. Wen-Yi Wu for a hair transplant assessment because he was concerned about his frontal hairline and the distribution of hair in the central area. He hoped to have the hairline planned according to his facial proportions and the likely long-term extent of hair loss. After surgery the case was recorded from an overhead angle with the head tilted down; use the slider below to compare the hairline about 8 months and about 12 months after surgery.

This case records two recovery stages from the same overhead forehead angle. The actual technique, treatment area and graft allocation still need to be assessed by the doctor in person, based on the extent of hair loss, hair calibre, donor supply and the risk of future hair loss.

Forehead at About 8 and 12 Months: Overhead View

These images were taken about 8 months and about 12 months after surgery; they are not a before-and-after comparison. In both photos the hair was pushed back by hand and the head tilted down, mainly to show hair density at the centre of the hairline, the growth of fine short hairs and the outline of the temple corners on both sides. The eyes have been masked to protect the patient's privacy.

Drag to compare

This is a photo record of a single case and does not mean everyone will achieve the same result. Transplanted hair usually grows in gradually over several months to more than a year, and recovery speed varies. The location, lighting, hair length, head tilt and the way the hair was pushed back were not the same in the two photos, which also affects how visible the scalp is and how the result looks.

What Is Assessed When Planning a Frontal Hairline?

The assessment covers the intended height and curve of the hairline, the depth of the temple corners on both sides, whether native hair at the front is still thinning, and the donor supply at the back of the head. Between about 8 and 12 months after surgery hair may continue to lengthen and thicken, so the later appearance should be judged by individual growth and follow-up assessments.

Want to know how your own frontal hairline could be planned?

Results vary between individuals and depend on native hair density, hair calibre, donor supply and aftercare. Graft counts reflect each patient's own hair loss at the time and are not a fixed recommendation; your plan requires an in-person assessment by the doctor.
